In Colo Springs I like the areas near Colorado College - some nice old neighborhoods, as well as along 24 and up to Manitou Springs. Colo Springs is known for some political religious organizations, like focus on the family. This DOES give the city a bad vibe to many, but the Springs is diverse and like any medium to large city it has all types - but unfortunately is does have an "eww" political right wing reputation to many. Aspen is about 4 hours away, but plenty of recreation is at your doorstep- biking, hikes, etc. There's some nice walks in Garden of the Gods, and behind the air force academy there's some nice trails too. I'm sure there proportionatly aren't as many african american people in the springs as there are in Atlanta, but again I'd say your quality of life depends more on your neighborhood, and being able to make friends through work, clubs, etc, (just like anyone else moving to a new city) I'd say the nightlife is definetely NOT up to par with Atlanta. More neighborhood type bars - but Denver is an hour away, you can always visit for a change! Manitou Springs, about 3 miles west of downtown up highway 24 has some nice restaurants, hotels, and art shops, it's a hip little enclave - worth staying there on your trip here. Here's a couple mountain pics I took on a recent bike trip through Colo Springs

ÊI grew up right next door in Colorado
Springs. If you are young and like a night life or any social life
stay away from that area PERIOD! If you want a nice place to settle
down and raise some Kids a great beautiful place to live, also
real estate is down making it a really soft market. I recomend
going up the front range 1 hour and move to Denver. Awsome city
that has everything and real estate is the lowest it has been for
years.
